Lots of changes happening these days. Both my Grade 7 SMATH and Grade 8 Life Skills classes are now online! Classes will follow the usual time schedule and students will need to be in my Google Meet (Class codes in Google Classroom) for attendance.
Each class will follow this format:
- Join meet
- Do attendance (Unexcused absences will get calls home)
- Teach lesson: A quick overview of the days topics and description of the day's work.
- Classwork time: Students will fill in a Google Form and watch any added videos.
- Exit lesson: At the end of the class time, I will say a farewell in the Google Meet.
Students will not need to be in the meet the entire class period. I will likely stay in the meet during the whole time in case there are any questions about the given work. Students can also email me at jemoir@educbe.ca
Gr. 7 Science - While making the shift to online, this week will be a textbook review of our Interactions and Ecosystems Unit. Each day, there will be a Google Form for students to submit their answers.
Gr. 7 Math - We will be starting a new unit on Fraction Operations. Due to the switch to online, I have slowed things down and this week will focus solely on Divisibility Rules. These are handy for finding factors, Simplifying Fractions, and other math operations. The Rules for 1,2,5,and 10 are hard to forget, the rest may take more work than just doing long-division(This year's nemesis).
Gr. 8 Life Skills - This week will continue on with our topic on Drugs. We will continue looking at the nature of addiction, but also the war on drugs, facts/myths about drugs and alcohol, and steroids.
IN-PERSON (Gr.6)
Thankfully, our Sixes will now run the school! In-person learning will continue as usual.

Gr. 6 Science - We will be diving into a Planet Project where students will pick a planet to analyze its potential for human colonization. There is a ton of work on this project and it may take us all the way to winter break!
Gr. 6 Math - This week we are starting on a new unit! This week, we will be looking at fractions, mixed numbers, improper fractions, simplifying fractions, lots and lots of fractions. This is an area that many students fear, so I hope we can spend enough time with them that they become less daunting.
Stay healthy my friends,
