Let me introduce myself...

Hi there, my name is Jon Moir and I am the new Grade 6/7 - Math/Science teacher at Tom Baines School!

I graduated last year from the University of Calgary in their two-year Education degree where I specialized in Elementary Mathematics. Since graduating, I have been subbing with the Calgary Board of Education. I have taught a variety of students at various grades/subjects/sectors of the city and always loved coming back to Tom Baines School.

Before pursuing Education, I obtained a degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta. I worked as an Engineer-in-training for 4 years applying the math and science I learnt in school to design various facets of city infrastructure. I quickly, became part of a technology development group and kept finding myself in teaching roles. I eventually realized that it wasn't the content that I found fulfilling but rather teaching and learning.

Also, while pursuing my Education degree, I coached kids and adults technical and physical approaches to rock climbing. It is a huge passion of mine and I always love being outdoors either camping, climbing, skiing, biking, anything really.

I am very excited to meet everyone within the Tom Baines School community. I am always happy to chat or meet in-person at room 9, just give me a shout.

Cheers,

Jon Mo
