Well! Our first week back went great! I really enjoyed getting to know all my new students. Although these are crazy times, school is definitely more fun in person.
Here is what we covered so far:
Gr.6 Math - We started looking at PATTERNS. More specifically, Input/Output functions connected to algebraic equations. We made number tables with those functions to observe pattern changes.
Gr.6 AND Gr.7 Science - Both classes have begun looking at the application of the scientific process to real life. We ended the week with making observations and inferences.
Gr.7 Math - This week we have been working on getting more practice using geometry tools. We worked on creating lines, circles, optical illusions, and perpendicular bisectors. Students were asked to bring their own geometry set and they are essential for this unit.
Gr. 8 Life Skills - We spent the week discussing risky activities and how to avoid them.
He is what this week will look like:
Gr. 6 Math - We will be using our table creating knowledge to plot onto Cartesian Coordinate Planes. Students will be making their own designs and recording their coordinates.
Gr. 6 AND Gr.7 Science - We will be playing with the scientific method by creating experiments. Students will be using their bodies to measure different exercises. This will give us more experience with formulating a hypothesis, recording results, and making conclusions.
Gr. 7 Math - This week, we will continue using our geometry sets. Students will learn how to create parallel lines, angle bisectors, and other shapes. Students who do not have a geometry set will miss out on developing experience with these concepts, but will still be able to learn the concepts.
Gr. 8 Life Skills - This week, we will be looking at the Media, what is it and what it is used for.
Stay healthy my friends,
